Clarification Announcement: UNINTENTIONAL influx of non-targeted Facebook followers

In a bid to boost the presence on Facebook for this new startup business, we hired a social media marketing agent. Our instructions were clear: we wanted to attract followers from specific regions (Hong Kong and Taiwan) at the current starting stage. Despite reiterating our clear instructions three times during our four-day engagement, the agent initiated some marketing events and attracted non-targeted followers, an unwanted additional service. It was very unpleasant (a nightmare, to be honest). We had paid to attract real potential customers, not fake followers. Most importantly, Facebook does not allow page owners to remove people who liked my page but only followers, leaving us with a non-rectifiable issue! This became our first crisis management task. We decided to create transparency and make an announcement, clarifying to all of you that the sudden influx of non-targeted followers was unintentional and that we were merely victims of a misguided marketing strategy.

We apologize for the confusion created. We will continue to make our best effort to produce quality products and, going forward, promote our brand more carefully. Thanks for your trust and support!
